LACHIE'S GOT THE FAMILY
BRAGGING RIGHTS
Father Geoff and uncle Peter have been long-time stalwarts of the Moonee Valley Cricket Club, but Lachlan Smith achieved his own slice of history on February 7 - he scored a century.
Geoff's closest was in Round 11 of 2016/17 when he clubbed 95 against Greenvale - but he has yet to raise the bat for a Moonee Valley ton. Geoff also took 6/33 the day he made his highest score, playing in the Fifths in the NWMCA two-day comp.
Lachie's 103 not out came playing at home against Taylors Lakes in our Fifths, now in the one-day President's Shield comp.
At right: Lachlan Smith raises his bat to acknowledge his maiden century.
Amazingly, his big knock propelled us to 3/246 off our 35 overs, but we got run down with an over to go.
Lachie's power century came off 64 balls, with 11 sixes and five fours.
And it wasn't just his first century - it was the first time Lachie had passed 50. He also played junior cricket at Moonee Valley.
