**HOT OFF THE PRESS - OUR 2023/24

WISDEN IS HERE AT LAST!

The Moonee Valley 2023/24 Senior Wisden is out now – perhaps a bit late, but we think it’s worth the wait for the hours of reading, reviews and statistics it offers.
It's a bumper edition - 150 pages - and chronicles our great club's past as well as our present, including photos and details of the season.
For the first time, we have separated and collated the career statistics of all our women players. See if you can guess the only two players who have reached the 50-game milestone.
The stats of our women players are also still in the club’s all-time consolidated list of all senior players.
It's all in the Wisden - so have a look and see.
WisdenTry and find:
* Which 12 players made the Wisden Team of the Year? (Hint: See Page 3)
* Who was selected as captain of our Team of the Year?
* Who was our leading wicket-taker in 2023/24? (Hint: See Page 36)
* We have been at the Barooga Over 35s tournament for 10 years. A surprise result: Who has the best bowling average across that time? (Hint: See Page 59)
* Who were the five players who scored centuries in 2023/24? (Hint: See Page 18)
* Who are the only three players in our history with a bowling average under 10 {minimum 30 wickets}? (Hint: See Page 132).
* Who are the only five players in our history with a batting average over 60? One of them is a current player. (Hint: See Page 131).
* Who are the only two players with 10 or more wickets and a bowling average under 12 in 2023/24? (Hint: See Pages 6/7).
This information is all available - you just have to look.

SALE-O! TEAMS HAMMERED AT OUR

PLAYER AUCTION

Moonee Valley players across all senior grades went under the hammer in groups of three in a fun Player Auction night at Ormond Park on October 5, as a prelude to our season 2024/25 launch.

Brendan 'Jonty' Rhodes was the auctioneer at our Player Auction. Coach Brayden McGregor tries to find a bid under the table. In a bid to generate extra interest in individual and team results this season, the batting, bowling and fielding points of each player will be tallied every week to see how each of the 18 player teams is tracking.
The teams are balanced across each of our six senior sides, with generally each team having one VTCA, one Mercantile and one NWMCA representative.

It was a fun Sale-o, with our very own multi-media commentator Brendan 'Jonty' Rhodes as the entertaining auctioneer and coach Brayden McGregor as the penciller.
Importantly, the auctions raised just under $3000 on the night, with half of the takings to go to the purchaser of the team which tallies the most points at the end of the season. The balance is a handy boost to the club coffers.

A family affair for the Sevensons

Proud dad Paul Sevenson with his sons - Jeremy (left) and debutant Luke. Moonee Valley junior co-ordinator Paul Sevenson takes his job seriously - and in the Fourths game on October 13 had the honor of playing with two juniors close to his heart - his sons Jeremy and Luke.
Under 16s Jez has already played 16 senior games, but Luke was making his debut - and took the first catch of the match.

Paul is captaining our Fourths this season, helping to provide experience for younger players on turf, and was proud to take to the field with the boys.
Paul has played every grade at Moonee Valley from the Firsts down, and in his two seasons at the club has scored 819 runs @ an average of 45.5. Let's hope Jeremy and Luke follow in his footsteps with bat and ball.
